Description:
In January 2002, the Weatherhead School began evaluating multimedia production and delivery systems. The intent was to find tools that would enable us to take our existing multimedia assets and those created in the future, and make them easily accessible to the faculty, staff and students of the school. We examined "best of breed" technology for acqusition, assembly, cataloging and distribution. After months of evaluation we eventually purchased a Virage system for indexing and cataloging, an Avid nonlinear editing system for assembling and a Panasonic broadcast-quality camera for aqusition. The Audio Video Library site is coming soon and will be a central linking point to display all of the audio visual and multimedia assets that we create with this equipment.

Further, we are collaborating with the University to develop a campus-wide system so that multimedia can be shared among schools. This will also allow us to move forward in the same direction as the University when it ramps up its new multimedia and streaming media project over the next year.
