All Weatherhead MBA students are required to take the Leadership
Assessment & Development (LEAD) course. As part of this course, each
student completes an abilities assessment questionnaire to
evaluate his/her skills, proficiencies and areas of strength and weakness.
Additionally, each student asks approximately 10 people they know to evaluate
them using the same questionnaire. In the past all questionnaires were completed
on paper with a staff member entering the responses into an Excel spreadsheet
to compute results and print reports.
At the request of Professor McLeod, an online version of the questionnaire
was developed. Now, for the Fall 2002 Semester, students will e-mail the
questionnaire URL to persons they'd like to participate as evaluators. Responses
from the on-line questionnaire form are collected in an Access database.
Scores on 16 different abilities for each student are computed and sent
to the student and to the course facilitator. Considerable time and effort
in managing the skills evaluation task are saved with this new online initiative.
